Prithvi Shaw, who is a constant in Delhi Capitals line-up missed out from the last game as he was replaced by Mandeep Singh. The reason for his ommission was not known clearly as DC skip[per Rishabh Pant didn’t reveal much about it at the toss. While he was expected to return to the playing XI on Sunday for the match against CSK, the opener himself posted a story on his instagram account giving an update.
In the photo, he was seen in a hospital bed and he wrote,”Admitted in hospital & recovering from fever. Thank u all for your good wishes. Will be back soon.”
The batter has had a solid IPL season so far, with 259 runs in 9 games at an average of 28.78. His personal best score is 61. Shaw has cracked two half-centuries for DC this season.
It is still unclear whether his illness is due to Covid-19.The virus is already haunting the Delhi Capitals camp as earlier this season, overseas players Tim Seifert and Mitchell Marsh had to isolate themselves after testing positive. One of the family members of head coach Ricky Ponting too suffered Covid and he had to go undergo five-day isolation. While everyone recovered, the virus has come back to haunt the camp as one of the net bowlers tested Covid positive a couple of days ago.
The team were asked to go back to isolation and mandatory tests were conducted. The match is however expected to take place. Delhi Capitals are placed fifth on the points table with 5 wins and 5 losses in 10 games. The team needs to win atleast 3 matches out of their remaining four games to qualify for the playoffs.
