  • Aaron Finch – 72 runs in 4 matches
  • Pat Cummins – 63 runs and 4 wickets in 4 matches
  • Matthew Wade – 68 runs in 5 matches
  • Daniel Sams – 21 runs and 7 wickets in 6 matches
  • Marcus Stoinis – 90 runs and 1 wicket in 6 matches

Aaron Finch – Arguably one of the biggest flops of the IPL 2022 season, Aaron Finch has been a shadow of his own. Finch, who guided Australia to the glory of T20 World Cup last November, has completely gone under the radar. In the entire IPL he has scored 72 runs in four matches and has failed to fill the gap of opener’s job in the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) camp.

Pat Cummins – From one captain to other, Pat Cummins has also failed miserably and is warming the bench at KKR. Interestingly, his most significant contribution came with the bat and not with the ball as he smashed 35 runs in a single Daniel Sams over. Before dropping to the bench, Cummins has so far contributed 63 runs and four wickets in the IPL for KKR, something not enough for a player with high price tag. Cummins was also expensive with the ball, giving away 190 runs in those four matches.

Matthew Wade – Not long ago Matthew Wade was seen lighting the World Cup for Australia and for Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League.  Wade was given his fare chances at the start by the Gujarat Titans (GT) and didn’t perform up to standards as he contributed only 68 runs in five matches. The Australian is now replaced by Wriddhiman Saha in the opener’s slot while Wade waits in the wings. An average of 13.60 in the IPL has seen him drop down the pecking order.

Daniel Sams – The Australian was purchased for a big price tag of Rs 2.60 crore by Mumbai Indians (MI), but never looked to have justiied the price tag. Sams was smashed for 35 runs by fellow compatriot Pat Cummins as it affected his bowling stats. Sams failed to score in double figures with the bat and apart from the four wickets against CSK was never in the same form as he was in BBL and for Australia. He was dropped and brought back in to the team but hasn’t delivered on what was expected.

Marcus Stoinis – Marcus Stoinis could be considered as one of the biggest flops just not in the current season of IPL, but in the entire history. Brought for Rs 9.20 crore, Marcus has been a huge disappointment with just 90 runs and one wicket in the IPL 2022 season. Although, his poor performance and price tag hasn’t done too much damage to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) as they sit second in the IPL standings.
