IPL 2022 Auctions: From David Warner to Shubman Gill, 5 IPL stars who are likely to lead bidding-war among IPL franchises

IPL 2022 Retention: From Harshal Patel to Faf du Plessis, 5 big players unlikely to be retained despite impressive record in last season

David Warner

IPL 2016 winning captain David Warner had a horrible episode with Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2021. He was axed from captaincy and playing XI. The Aussie has already expressed his agitation on social media a number of times. He is likely to be purchased as a skipper option by a number of IPL franchises. Warner received a lump sum salary of Rs 12.5 crore with SRH. His price is expected to surge after his Man of the tournament award in the T20 World Cup. Warner is the highest overseas run-scorer in IPL with 5400+ runs. He has led 69 IPL matches and won 35 games with a win percentage of 52.17.

Shubman Gill

Shubman Gill became a vital cog for KKR in recent years. He has scored 296, 440 and 478 runs in the last three seasons. His consistent performance in IPL 2021 helped KKR reach the final. The 22-year-old is likely to grab attention in IPL 2022 Auctions. Besides being a consistent batsman, Gill could also be the vice-captain option for a number of franchises. He was bought for Rs 1.8 crore by KKR in IPL 2018. With no RTM option, KKR are likely to face a tough time at the auctions table.

SuryaKumar Yadav

SuryaKumar Yadav is one of the key reasons behind the success of Mumbai Indians. The 31-year-old played a big role at No.3 for 5 times IPL champions. He could be in the fray for the captaincy option in IPL 2022 auctions with 115 matches experience. The right-handed batsman has only raised his rand value with the Indian Cricket Team in the limited-overs format. MI had bought him for Rs 3.2 crore but his price could skyrocket to even double or triple in mega auctions.

KL Rahul & Shreyas Iyer

KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer are set to part ways with Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals. The duo are set to create new IPL benchmarks with staggering prices in IPL 2022. With the potential of leading a team for the upcoming 3-4 seasons, the two players could even fetch a price of Rs 20 crore+. KL Rahul has been scoring 550+ runs in IPL for the last 4 IPL seasons. Shreyas Iyer is a tactical genius who guided Delhi Capitals to IPL 2020 finals.

The duo could be the perfect treat for Lucknow and Ahmedabad and could only feature in IPL 2022 auctions if the two teams fail to negotiate them with an offered price after IPL 2022 retentions. Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals had bought these geniuses for Rs 11 and Rs 7 crore respectively. Iyer and Rahul have led in IPL in 41 and 27 games respectively.
