IPL 2022 Auction: Mega Pull-outs of IPL 2022 – The 15th edition of IPL will be very different from the previous editions. Not only there will be more teams but the established stars such as Ben Stokes, Kyle Jamieson, Chris Gayle, Dan Richardson, Chris Woakes amongst A-listers who will be missing from the tournament. On Tuesday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) released the list of players who will go under the hammer on 12th and 13th February, for the IPL 2022 mega auction. From 1,214 registrations, BCCI has selected 590 players for the much-awaited bidding war.

IPL has a knack for providing a unique amalgamation of renowned, global superstars and hidden gems. Like every season, many global superstars have enlisted their name for the auction, but there are a few shocking omissions as well.

- Chris Gayle
The Indian Premier League has enthralled cricket loyalists for the last fourteen years, and Chris Gayle has been a major contributor to its success for the last thirteen years. The Universe Boss made his IPL debut in 2009 for Kolkata Knight Riders and has since played for Royal Challengers Bangalore and Punjab Kings. He has scored 4965 runs in 142 matches, but will not be able to complete 5000 years at least this season, as he has not registered for the mega auction.

- Ben Stokes
Ben Stokes could easily have been the most expensive buy of this auction, but the Englishman opted not to throw his name in the hat. The 30-year-old recently returned to the field after a mental health break, but IPL’s bio-bubble fatigue might have triggered his decision to not take part in the 2022 edition. Stokes has played a total of 43 IPL matches for two franchises – Rising Pune Supergiant and Rajasthan Royals.

- Kyle Jamieson
Kiwi pacer Kyle Jamieson is another player who had previously voiced his opinion on bio-bubble fatigue, and it is not a surprise that he has decided to opt out of IPL 2022. Jamieson was a part of Royal Challengers Bangalore but failed to justify his mammoth INR 15 crore price tag.

- Jhye Richardson
Like Jamieson, Jhye Richardson also bagged a mega-money contract last season as Punjab Kings acquired his service for INR 14 crore. However, he too had a poor season and played only three matches. The 25-year-old from Western Australia has not registered for the Mega Auction.

- Daniel Christian
Veteran Aussie all-rounder Daniel Christian received an INR 4.80 crore contract from Royal Challengers Bangalore, but had a season to forget. He could only score 14 runs in his nine appearances at a horrendous average of 2.33, while with the ball, the 38-year-old scalped a meagre 4 wickets. The New South Wales cricketer will not be seen in action during IPL 2022.

- Mitchell Starc
It seems an eternity since Mitchell Starc has last featured in IPL. A former member of the Royal Challengers Bangalore team, Starc was roped in for IPL 2018 by Kolkata Knight Riders, but an injury ruled him out of the competition. Since then, the 32-year-old has focused only on international cricket and will not return to India for the 2022 edition as well.

- Chris Woakes
A key member of the English team, Chris Woakes made his IPL debut for Kolkata Knight Riders. After making 13 appearances in his first season, he only has been a bit-part player and got only three opportunities at Delhi Capitals last season. According to reports, bio-bubble fatigue is the reason behind Woakes’ decision of not enlisting himself for the auction.
