IPL 2022 Auction: IPL 2021’s Purple Cap holder Harshal Patel reveals small tip from Zaheer Khan that changed his career – Check out
“When I was with DC and we were playing MI, I got a chance to speak with Zaheer bhai. I have this massive problem of my deliveries drifting down the leg stump, and I spoke to him about it. He spotted an issue with my release angle. With my angle, if I pitch the ball on the off-stump, it will automatically drift to the leg stump,” Harshal Patel told Indian Express.
“The Haryana pacer then addressed the tweak that the 43-year-old had suggested. “The release angle should target the sixth or seventh stump line and then the ball will hit the off stump, he advised me. A small tip made a massive difference in my consistency and changed me as a bowler,” he added.
- Harshal Patel was the purple cap holder after taking a record of 32 wickets last season. He joined Dwayne Bravo to become the most wicket-taker in an IPL season.
- He can bowl in the powerplays and death overs and provide crucial breakthroughs. He brings in an experience of 63 IPL matches and 78 wickets. He is a part of IPL since 2012 and was bought for Rs 8 in his debut season.
- Harshal’s ability to bowl knuckleballs helped him outclass a number of star batsmen throughout the last edition of IPL.
- Like Venkatesh Iyer (Rs 8 crore) and Umran Malik (Rs 4 crore), Harshal Patel could also fetch 40 times or more hikes in his new IPL salary.
