It was in the 18th over when Mahipal Lomror was charging against CSK bowlers. As Lomror tried to go for a big hit against Pretorius, he gave away a catch. Jadeja came running from deep cover but failed to take the catch. But he landed heavily and in the process hurt his ribs.

While initially it was thought that, he might have injured his hand, it turned out that he was clutching his ribs. Physios rushed in to check on him. While he carried on for the moment, it remains to be seen if he bats in his rhythm.

Chennai Super Kings have been plagued by injuries in IPL 2022. While Deepak Chahar and Adam Milne were ruled out of IPL 2022 due to injuries, Chris Jordan spent a few days in hospital due to acute tonsillitis. Ambati Rayudu injured his arm while Moeen Ali also missed two games due to injury.
The string of injuries has complicated matters for CSK. The defending champions sit at 9th place with just three wins from 9 matches. If Ravindra Jadeja is to miss any match, CSK’s playoff hopes will go up in smokes. CSK need to win all remaining matches to be in contention.
