Rajasthan pacer Kuldeep Sen’s father works as a barber in a small salon. He also did not support his son’s passion to be a cricketer. The father used to worry that Kuldeep’s education will be spoiled due to cricket and he would be left with nothing. Sen though kept following his dream and worked hard.
In IPL 2022 he was signed up by RR for his base price of 20 lakhs and since then he has not looked back. The right-arm pacer is consistently clocking 145kmph and hitting hard lengths. The right-arm pacer has taken 8 wickets in just 6 games and has been impressive.

- Rovman Powell – DC
DC’s finisher Rovman Powell is lighting up IPL due to fearless stroke play and blitz. Things though were not the same during his childhood. The right-hand batter had gone days with very little food or no food sometimes. His father abandoned him and never came back to him and his mother. Powell’s mother did not give up and defied all odds by doing all the odd jobs.
Amidst all these, Powell found his true love in cricket and promised his mother to take her out of poverty. True to his words, the DC star emerged as the bright talent in West Indies and soon got an IPL contract. DC showed faith in him and so far he has not disappointed. He has scored 205 runs in 11 matches at a strike rate of 161.42.
- Rinku Singh – KKR
KKR batter Rinku Singh used to live with nine members in a two-room quarter. He has also done several odd jobs to support his family. Rinku used to drive taxis to help his brother and also used to work as a sweeper to help his family survive. The 24-year-old though never gave up on his dreams and kept on playing cricket whenever he got an opportunity.
Eventfully, his persistence paid off as he got a lucrative IPL contract with KKR. So far he has played five games and scored 129 runs. He also finished a match for his team against RR by scoring an enterprising 44.

- Kumar Kartikeya – MI
A young 15-year-old Kartikeya promised his father that cricket won’t add to the financial burden. The MI star spinner came from a modest background as his father worked as a constable in Kanpur. Kartikeya had only one mission – to play cricket and make it big. He also promised his dad that he will return home only when he accomplishes something significant.
The MI star struggled initially when he walked out of the home at just 15 years. He used to work as a laborer in a factory in Masuri, a village next to Ghaziabad, about some 80 Kms from the academy where he used to train. He worked tirelessly and mastered various variations of off-spin.
As destiny would have it, the left-arm spinner was roped in by MI as a replacement player for Mohd Arshad Khan. Kartikeya grabbed his opportunities as MI’s lead spinner.
