Devdutt Padikkal perhaps has the most hands-on experience of Virat Kohli’s mentoring, opening the batting with the RCB skipper. Padikkal has been one of the rising stars of Indian cricket and has been a constant source of runs for Royal Challengers Bangalore and Karnataka at the top of the order. The left-hander has previously spoken about how batting with Virat Kohli makes life easier for him and the duo share a great bond on and off the pitch.
2. Virat Kohli and Venkatesh Iyer
Venkatesh Iyer has taken the IPL by storm and the left-hander was seen chatting with Virat Kohli on the sidelines after the KKR vs RCB game in Phase 2. Iyer gained some valuable lessons as Kohli briefed him on some basics, which the KKR star has surely imbibed after a stellar start to his career. “I got out because I predicted before that he might bowl back of a length. If you press forward – you are in a good position to leave, to get under the ball, and a good position to rock up. the base has to be good,” Kohli can be heard citing his dismissal as an example.
3. Virat Kohli and Yashasvi Jaiswal
The former India U-19 star was the latest to see Virat Kohli in a mentor role, after engaging in conversation with the Indian captain following the RR vs RCB game. Yashasvi Jaiswal has struggled to convert his starts in the IPL this season and sought advice from Kohli to make his mark.
The Rajasthan Royals opener said, “I wanted to know how to make it big. That was what I was talking about with Virat bhaiya, like how to make it effective and how can I help my team. He explained in a really nice way about how can I do well and improve. He also said about how can I be positive all the time and play little more.”
