IPL 2021: Virat Kohli, Anushka Sharma pen special message for Covid-19 frontline workers – As India reel under the mounting cases of COVID-19 infections in the second wave with frontline workers including doctors and nurses under immense pressure, India captain Virat Kohli and his wife, Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma, shared a special message for them, thanking them for their service.

“I have nothing but gratitude for all the healthcare & frontline workers, I am in awe of their spirit and dedication. I also want to thank all the people who came forward in such difficult times & helped each other. India is grateful to have heroes like you,” Virat Kohli said in a post on Twitter on Sunday.

“We’d like to say a big thank you to all our healthcare and frontline workers, their dedication is truly inspiring. You continue to risk your lives for the nation, and for that, we are eternally grateful to you. You are the real heroes, for Virat and I, and for the nation. Thank you once again,” Anushka Sharma also took to Twitter to thank the frontline workers, who have been hit hard both mentally and physically with mounting pressure on the hospitals.

Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma earlier launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise Rs 7 crore to aid in the COVID-19 crisis. The couple donated Rs 2 crore and extended a helping hand in supporting those who need.

They raised Rs 4.5 crore for COVID-19 relief in 48 hours of launching the campaign. The raised funds will go to ACT Grants which will help in procuring medical supplies and oxygen concentrators. After Yuzvendra Chahal joined in with Rs 95,000 contribution, Indian Super League side Hyderabad FC owner Varun Tripuraneni chipped on with Rs 2.5 lakh.

“Anushka and I have started a campaign to raise funds for Covid-19 relief, and we would be grateful for your support. Let’s all come together and help those around us in need of our support. I urge you all to join our movement,” Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma said in a joint video message.
