IPL 2021 – Devon Conway: No one bought Devon Conway at the IPL Auctions last month. Conway was available at the auctions for just 50 Lacs – but none of the franchise thought he was worth it and check how he has replied since than to the snub –

  • Just 4 days into the auction Conway hit 59-balls 99 to help New Zealand thrash Australia by 53 runs in 1st T20. However, Conway’s stellar knock comes just 4 days late after the conclusion of the auctions
  • In 3 ODI matches since than he has scored 225 runs at a average of 75 with highest being 126 this week.
  • In T20 Matches in 12 games he has a strike rate of above 150
  • In 12 matches he has hit 4 50’s and is averaging 65.7
  • In 12 games he has hit 47 4’s and 14 6’s

With such a stellar record it was surprising that no one bought Conway at the auction and that too when he was priced for just 50 Lacs.

Delhi Capitals and India senior bowler R.Ashwin admitted franchises missed the trick in not picking Conway at the auctions. According to Ashwin his 1st big knock came just 3-4 days late

“Devon Conway is just 4 days late, but what a knock,” Ashwin tweeted.

In just 4 days into IPL Auctions, New Zealand were reduced to 19/3 before Conway unleashed the beast within himself to hammer an unbeaten 99 off 59 balls and guided the hosts to 184/5 from their 20 overs.

IPL 2021: Highest paid NZ cricket Kyle Jamieson fails to make a big show

On the other hand, fellow Kiwi Kyle Jamieson was picked up in IPL 2021 Auctions for a whopping 15cr by Royal Challengers Bangalore. Highest paid NZ cricketer in the upcoming IPL edition, Jamieson had a rather timid outing in the NZ vs AUS 1st T20 picking just one wicket from his 4 overs.

Former Black Caps coach Mike Hesson, RCB’s director of cricket operations, led the charge to win the three-way bidding between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings for Jamieson, who made his Test debut against India at home last year.

His retainer fee for the Black Caps, according to the report, is between USD 100,000 (approx 73 lacs) to USD 150,000 (approx 1cr) which makes RCB’s winning bid amount 20 times more.
