IPL 2021 – RR vs RCB: Sanju Samson’s Rajasthan Royals look to bounce back against Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore – Follow live updates – Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals face a challenging task ahead of them as they take on Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore in Dubai on Wednesday evening. The 7 wickets defeat at the hands of Sunrisers Hyderabad on Monday has made things really demanding for the team in Pink as they have slipped to the sixth position in the league standings. With the top two spots almost booked, the race for the remaining two spots – third and fourth – is heating up between four teams that are well and truly in contention for the playoffs. Rajasthan Royals have now lost two in a row after pulling off an unbelievable heist against Punjab Kings last week and now need to win a minimum of three matches out of the remaining four fixtures.

With non-performing middle order and unavailability of English key players, the onus to make it count lies on the shoulders of skipper Sanju Samson. The young Yashasvi Jaiswal has got starts but has failed to convert them, and the same has been the case with Mahipal Lomror. However, unlike the previous editions, Sanju Samson is presently the most consistent batter in the RR squad and is also the leading run-scorer for the side. Averaging 54.12, Sanju Samson has slammed half-centuries in the last two innings and needs to keep producing a couple more. Apart from Samson, there’s another positive in RR camp – the trio of Rahman, Sakaraiya, and Tyagi. The RR’s trio in Mustafizur Rahman, Chetan Sakariya, and Kartik Tyagi has been impressive with the ball and has picked up most of the wickets collectively.

Moreover, with Virat Kohli, Devdutt Padikkal, Harshal Patel, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Glenn Maxwell looking in fine form, the challenge for Rajasthan Royals grows even bigger. The Royals are already struggling with a couple of woes and facing such a formidable opposition will require them to punch above their weight.

The Virat Kohli-led side is coming after a dominating win over Mumbai Indians and will be looking to carry forward the momentum. After facing back-to-back defeats at the start of the UAE leg, Royal Challengers Bangalore finally looked in the groove as they defeated the reigning champions by 54 runs, completing a double over the 5-time champions for the first time. The Royal Challengers Bangalore are comfortably sitting at the third spot with 12 points from 10 matches and need to secure two wins out of their four remaining matches.
