IPL 2021: RCB’s Superman AB De Villiers smashes an i-phone with his powerful shot- One of the attacking players in modern-day cricket AB De Villiers has started net practice ahead of IPL 2021. He will once again don the red jersey as he plays with Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). The franchise will start off proceedings against Mumbai Indians on April 9 in Chennai.

The 37-year-old is hitting the nets ahead of his India departure. During a practice session, his fierce shot hit an iPhone that was recording a clip. He took to Instagram and shared the clip. “Iphone out! @iplt20 prep with Cricket guru @bennie.bester.10 and @krugervanwyk . Thanks manne.”

The clip has garnered over 1.2 million views and nearly 1800 replies.

AB De Villiers in IPL

AB De Villiers is only 151 runs away to complete 5,000 runs in IPL 2021. The right-handed batsman has a strike rate of 150+ in the IPL. Last year, he had slammed 454 runs in 15 matches during the IPL season at an average of 45.40. It was the third consecutive season where he scored more than 400 runs for the RCB. The legendary batsman would like to end his trophy drought by winning the IPL 2021 title for RCB this year.

The team is looking strong more than ever. While Padikkal is smashing runs at the top, Kohli, AB De Villiers and Glenn Maxwell will follow the batting lineup. The Bangalore-based franchise also roped in Dan Christian and Kyle Jamieson to strengthen the bowling lineup.

On Wednesday, RCB included highest run-scorer of Super Smash T20 tournament Finn Allen as replacement of Josh Philippe.
