IPL 2021 Phase 2 – Punjab Kings Replacements: KL Rahul-led Punjab Kings have announced their second replacement as they bring in English cricketer Adil Rashid as Jhye Richardson’s replacement for the second leg of the tournament. InsideSport had earlier leant of the possibility of the inclusion of English cricketer in their side during an exclusive interaction with Punjab Kings official.
While earlier Punjab Kings CEO told InsideSport that an announcement would be made by Monday, the reason for the delay is Vitality Blast’s quarterfinal matches which are scheduled between August 24-27. Eight county clubs are in the fray and Punjab Kings and the head coach Anil Kumble are keeping a tab on the performances.
IPL 2021 Phase 2: “We haven’t yet finalized on the 2nd replacement. We are waiting for the Vitality Blast and some of the other T20 games to get over. So, you can expect the announcement in the next two days once the games get over,” Punjab Kings CEO Satish Menon told InsideSport earlier.
In the first two quarterfinals matches, Yorkshire Vikings, Sussex Sharks, Notts Outlaws and Hampshire Hawks will be clashing. All four teams have some of the best T20 players in the world including New Zealand’s Colin de Grandhomme and Tymal Mills amongst others. There are also some of the best T20 talents of England who will be featuring.
IPL 2021 Phase 2: As coach Anil Kumble and the franchise are keeping a tab on the Vitality Blast matches, it is expected that their next announcement will be coming from England.
IPL 2021 Phase 2: However, the other good news for Punjab Kings is that they have all other players available including from England and Australia. The likes of Chris Jordan, Dawid Malan, Moises Henriques apart from the West Indian trio of Chris Gayle, Nicholas Pooran and Fabian Allen are all available and have confirmed their return for the IPL 2021 Phase 2.
Chris Jordan and Moises Henriques will be joining the camp in the UAE when Punjab Kings leave for the desert nation on August 29 while Dawid Malan will only be available after England’s Test series against India get over on September 14. As for the West Indies trio, they will join directly from the CPL 2021 camp once their team commitments are over.
