Punjab Kings posted a video of Ishan where he talked about his journey in the last few months. “It was a long wait for our young fast bowler, but he finally got a chance to showcase his talent in the #IPL last night @ishan_ip55 has got a lot to tell about his journey #SaddaPunjab #IPL2021 #PunjabKings,” PBKS wrote in the caption of the video.
“We were on the bus after playing a Ranji Trophy game and everybody started jumping. I thought, What what’s going on? What’s happening? Well, then everybody told me that I have been picked by Punjab Kings. So It was a happy moment. Every player wants to have a game if you are in the franchise. If you don’t get selected then it is fine but if you are in the squad then you want to play,” Ishan said in the video.
Ishan rose to the limelight when he was named to India’s squad for the 2018 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. Porel was selected for India A tour of New Zealand in January and February 2020. In the 2020 IPL auction, he was bought by the Punja Kings ahead of the 2020 Indian Premier League.
Opening up on Rahul Dravid’s influence on his cricketing career he said,” He has been a great inspiration for me in. And he has backed like anything because when I got injured during World Cup as well, he was there to back me. Eventually, I played final and semifinal.”
Porel was named as one of four additional bowlers to travel with the India cricket team for their tour to Australia. He was named as one of five net bowlers for India’s tour of Sri Lanka. Following a positive case for COVID-19 in the Indian team, Porel was added to India’s main squad for their final two T20I matches of the tour.
