He went past Punjab Kings captain KL Rahul to take the pole position with 600+ runs in the ongoing IPL season. The 24-year-old broke the previous record held by Australia’s Shaun Marsh, who scored 616 runs in IPL 2008 for Punjab Kings. Marsh was just 25 years old at that time. IPL 2021 Orange Cap Race: Faf du Plessis misses by thinnest of margins- Another CSK opener Faf du Plessis missed the Orange Cap by just 2 runs. However, he slammed 86 runs off 59 balls comprising 7 fours and 3 sixes to take CSK to the driver’s seat in IPL 2021 Final.

The CSK talsiman finished the season with 633 runs in 16 matches.

Rules for IPL Orange Cap

  1. The Orange Cap is offered to the leading run-scorer of the season.
  2. The batsman with the most runs in the tournament during the season would wear the Orange Cap while in the field.
  3. In case of a tie, the batsman with a better strike rate is awarded the Orange Cap.
  4. The Orange Cap owner who is fielding is allowed to wear the Orange Cap till the end of the innings even if an opposition batsman has overtaken his runs.
