IPL 2021: Good news for Punjab Kings, KL Rahul undergoes surgery, likely to rejoin Punjab Kings after quarantine- Punjab Kings skipper KL Rahul has undergone successful surgery for appendicitis and he is likely to reunite with the Punja Kings squad after a mandatory quarantine.

KL Rahul flew on a charter flight to Mumbai, where he underwent laparoscopic appendectomy, as per ESPNCricinfo. The doctors are understood to have told him that he can return to action after one week of rest. Punjab Kings will now consult with IPL regarding the quarantine period and other protocols that KL Rahul need to undergo before returning to action,

It is notable that the Karnataka batsman suffered an inflamed appendix, as a result of which he had to miss out on last night’s game against Delhi Capitals. While initially it was expected that Rahul will be back within 10-12 days.

Earlier, Some sources privy to the development had said that the Punjab Kings skipper will be missing the remaining tournament.

Earlier, in a statement, PBKS said, “K.L. Rahul complained of severe abdomen pain last night and after not responding to medication, he was taken to the emergency room for further tests. The diagnosis led to a case of acute appendicitis. It will be resolved surgically and for safety measures, he has been transferred to the hospital for the same.”

As a result, Mayank Agarwal replaced Rahul as the PBKS captain ahead of Sunday’s match against Delhi Capitals. Agarwal is now likely to lead the side for the rest of the tournament unless the PBKS management choose to look for alternate options. KL Rahul currently holds the “Orange Cap’ with 331 runs.
