IPL 2021: Glenn Maxwell joins RCB camp in the UAE, will the Big Show continue his Phase 1 form? Australian superstar Glenn Maxwell has touched down in the UAE as preparations for the upcoming IPL 2021 Phase 2 take centre stage. Maxwell will join up with the rest of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) camp, having spent the last few weeks at home after opting out of Australia’s tours to the West Indies and Bangladesh. The Australian remains one of the key players for the franchise and Virat Kohli and Co. will hope that he can continue his good form in the second phase of the tournament.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Thursday announced the return of Glenn Maxwell to their side. The Aussie hard-hitter is one of their few foreign stars who pledged to return for IPL 2021 Phase 2, after a slew of withdrawals including fellow Australians Adam Zampa, Kane Richardson and Daniel Sams. Maxwell landed in the UAE on Thursday and will straight away join up with the team, a couple of days after franchise legend AB de Villiers joined up with the squad.

Glenn Maxwell was again one of the most expensive purchases in the IPL 2021 auction, as RCB shelled out a whopping ₹14.25 crore to get him on board. The Australian had struggled in the league over the past few seasons, but showcased his best form this time around, as RCB made an early push for the playoffs. maxwell scored 223 runs in seven games in Phase 1, at an impressive strike rate of 144.80.

In their first game after the season resumes, RCB will face Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), led by Eoin Morgan, on September 20. The match will be played at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
