IPL 2021 Auctions – Chennai Super Kings has this player on radar, declares coach Stephen Fleming: Chennai Super Kings head coach Stephen Fleming has hinted that he will be bidding for New Zealand’s star-wicket keeper-batsman Tim Seifert in the IPL 2021 auction.

CSK had a forgettable IPL 2020 in the United Arab Emirates and the three-time champions failed to make it to the playoffs for the first time in their IPL history. It is likely that now the franchise will aim to revamp their squad and bring in dynamic players for IPL 2021 and it seems like Fleming has already shortlisted one of the targets as he hinted that CSK will go after swashbuckling player Seifert.

“There’s a team in yellow that might have a look at you (Seifert) as well. Not just Brendon McCullum’s team, there are other teams out there,” Fleming was quoted as saying during commentary for the T20I match between New Zealand and Pakistan.

Interestingly, Seifert scored two half-centuries back-to-back in the recently concluded T20I series against Pakistan where he also became the leading run-scorer from either side.

In the T20I series which New Zealand won 2-1, Seifert amassed 176 runs at an average and strike-rate of 88 and 139.68 respectively. His top score of an unbeaten 84 came at the Seddon Park in Hamilton where he helped the Black Caps chase down 164 with four balls to spare.

Notably, Kolkata Knight Riders had signed Tim Seifert as Ali Khan’s replacement in IPL 2020. Ali Khan himself was a replacement signing. Unfortunately, even the American speedster picked up an injury, forcing KKR to sign Tim Seifert.
