IPL 2021: From RCB’s Devdutt Padikkal to RR’s Chetan Sakariya, 5 IPL players who earned a maiden call for India tour of Sri Lanka– A lot of players from IPL made cuts to the India tour of Sri Lanka as the All-India Senior Selection Committee picked the Indian squad for the 3-match ODI series and the 3-match T20I series scheduled in the month of July. Players such as Devdutt Padikkal (RCB), Ruturaj Gaikwad (CSK), K Gowtham (CSK), Varun Chakaravarthy (KKR) and Chetan Sakariya (RR) were also part of the second string India squad. Devdutt Padikkal (RCB)

RCB opener Devdutt Padikkal who has impressed since his IPL debut has been chosen in the India squad of Sri Lanka. He has played 21 matches for Royal Challengers Bangalore where he has amassed 668 runs in 21 matches which includes 5 fifties. In IPL 2021 Phase 1, he scored 195 runs in 6 innings which includes a century.

Ruturaj Gaikwad (CSK)

Another opening batsman, CSK’s Ruturaj Gaikwad is also named in India squad for Sri Lanka. He has played 13 matches for CSK where he amassed 400 runs with the help of five fifties. He has a batting average of 36 in the cash-rich league.

K Gowtham (CSK)

K Gowtham who emerged as the costliest pick of CSK in IPL 2021 auction, is chosen to play the role of a proper allrounder. He has experience of playing in 24 IPL fixtures where he has scored 183 runs and picked 13 wickets.

Varun Chakaravarthy (KKR)

Meanwhile, KKR spin sensation Varun Chakaravarthy has been once again named in India squad after failing to take part with the team due to fitness issue in the Australia tour and home series against England. He might finally don the India jersey in the India tour of Sri Lanka. He has played 21 IPL matches and took 25 wickets. In IPL 2021, he took 7 wickets from 7 matches.

Chetan Sakariya (RR)

Chetan Sakriya, who plays for Rajasthan Royals, is also named in the India squad. He might be going through the personal loss of his father but has got something to cherish about. The youngster who made his debut in IPL 2021, emerged as a key pacer for the Sanju Samson-led squad and took 7 wickets in 7 matches.

India’s squad: Shikhar Dhawan (Captain), Prithvi Shaw, Devdutt Padikkal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Suryakumar Yadav, Manish Pandey, Hardik Pandya, Nitish Rana, Ishan Kishan (Wicket-keeper), Sanju Samson (Wicket-keeper), Yuzvendra Chahal, Rahul Chahar, K Gowtham, Krunal Pandya, Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakravarthy, Bhuvneshwar Kumar (Vice-captain), Deepak Chahar, Navdeep Saini, Chetan Sakariya

Meanwhile, Punjab Kings Arshdeep Singh has also been named among net bowlers along with Ishan Porel, Sandeep Warrier, Sai Kishore and Siarjeet Singh.

Notably, Rahul Dravid will coach India in the entire tour.

Virat Kohli-led Senior India squad will be in England for 5 match Test series along with head coach Ravi Shashtri.
