As much as it is important for the franchises to rope in the best personnel into their squad, it is equally imperative for the players as well to be with the right franchise to expose their covert talent.

We have seen many players who warm the bench or do not get the essential run to showcase their talent throughout the season. It does not insinuate that they are any less of others who are playing. It’s just that they do not fit into the schemes of that particular franchise’s combination of playing XI. It is indeed difficult to find the right balance when you have so many options at your disposal and hence, as a result, few of them are seen carrying the water bottles to the field. For instance, the Kiwi captain, Kane Williamson, whom the world has recognized and touted as one of the modern greats, couldn’t find a permanent position in the playing XI of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

We bring you a list of many such players who were once a part of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) but only got recognized after switching to some different franchise.

1. Chris Morris

IPL 2021 Team– Rajasthan Royals (RR)

The South-African All-Rounder made his first appearance in IPL for CSK back in 2013. He did reasonably well in his first-ever season in IPL. He played a total of 16 matches and scalped 14 wickets. With a heavy batting line-up, Morris did not get enough chance with the bat.

With his likewise player, Dwayne Bravo who is a permanent member of the CSK camp, Morris was never going to get enough chances. Soon he was dropped from the squad and it was Delhi Daredevils who bought him. It happened only after that, he started getting recognition with both bat and ball. He was soon adjudged as a quick seamer who can bowl in any situation and a big striker of the ball.

In the IPL Auction of 2021, he even became the most expensive foreign player in the history of IPL after Rajasthan Royals got him for a staggering 16.25 crore.

2. Vijay Shankar

IPL 2021 Team- Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)

Well, not many might be knowing the fact that he first made his steps into IPL for CSK in 2014. He got only a solitary game to play where he bowled only 1 over and gave away 19 runs. He did not get a chance with the bat.

But it was again the Delhi Daredevils where the fortunes of Vijay Shankar turned around. After his stellar show with the Daredevils, he even earned his Indian cap in 2018.

He is now a crucial entourage of the SRH family.

3. Wriddhiman Saha

IPL 2021 Team– Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)

The wicket-keeper batsman from Bengal, although started his IPL stint with KKR where he played 3 seasons for them. But later on, he was purchased by the Dhoni’s Super Kings. With MS Dhoni being behind the stumps, it was always certain that any other wicket-keeper cannot easily sneak into the playing XI. As a result, Saha played only 14 matches in his 3 years with the Chennai Super Kings.

He came to the fore only when he started playing for the then Kings XI Punjab and was recognized as a top-order wicket-keeper batsman. Currently, he is placed with the SRH and is a main part of the team.
