IPL 2020 Top five economical bowlers : Indian Premier League (IPL) is a tournament which is highly tilted in the favour of batsmen and doesn’t offer much to the bowlers. Shorter boundaries, just two fielders outside the 30-yard circle in the powerplay overs and prevalence of flat pitches are some of the conditions which make things hard for the bowlers.
But despite all the hurdles, if a bowler is able to maintain a good economy rate then there is no doubt about his talent.
Here we take a look at top five bowlers with best economy rates (who have bowled minimum eight overs) in IPL 2020 after the completion of three weeks of the tournament:
Axar Patel (4.50)
The Delhi Capitals’ all-rounder has picked just five wickets so far but his excellent economy-rate of 4.50 has helped his side win five of their six games till now in IPL 13. Patel has conceded just 72 runs in 16 overs that he has bowled so far in the tournament. The 26-year-old spinner has a strike rate of 19.20.
Washington Sundar (4.80)
Royal Challenger’s Bangalore spinner Sundar has bowled 15 overs and conceded just 72 runs so far in the tournament at an economy rate of 4.80. However, he has just picked one wicket till now and has a bowling average of 72 and strike rate of 90.
Rashid Khan (4.83)
Sunrisers Hyderabad’s leg-break bowler Rashid Khan is an enigma that batsmen in T20 cricket have not been able to crack. The Afghan spinner has so far played six games and bowled 24 overs while conceding just 116 runs at an economy rate of 4.83. Rashid has also bagged eight wickets and his strike rate is 18.
Ravichandran Ashwin (6.90)
Delhi Capitals’ spinner Ashwin is one of the most experienced campaigners in IPL and arguably the best off-spinner in the history of the tournament. Ashwin’s experience has come in handy for DC so far as the 34-year-old has conceded just 76 runs in 11 overs and also clinched five wickets.
Jofra Archer (6.91)
Rajasthan Royals’ Archer is the only pacer in the list courtesy his dangerous bowling which force batsmen to play him carefully. The Englishman has bowled 24 overs so far and conceded 166 runs at an economy rate of 6.91. Archer also has eight wickets to his name.
