New Zealand all-rounder James Neesham has been handed his Kings XI Punjab debut cap and he is all set to play against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the match no.6 of IPL 2020 on Thursday.
Neesham, who was bought by KXIP at a meagre amount of Rs. 50 Lakhs in IPL 2020 auction, will be making his comeback in the Indian Premier League after a span of six years.
The Kiwi cricketer had grabbed his first IPL contract from Delhi Capitals in 2014 edition. He featured in the playing XI of only four games, where he scored 42 runs and took one wicket at an economy of 10.11. After being released by the Capitals the following year, he was signed by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for 2015 edition but James couldn’t play even a single match due to an injury.
Meanwhile, KXIP once again dropped their swashbuckling opener Chris Gayle. The Windies batsman didn’t feature in the franchises last game against Delhi Capitals and he has been made to sit out for the second successive match in IPL 2020.
‘Chris Gayle will come in at the right time, don’t worry about it,’ said KXIP skipper KL Rahul after losing the toss against Virat Kohli’s RCB, who opted to bowl first in the game.
Notably, both the teams are coming into the game on the back of contrasting results. While RCB won their opening game against Sunrisers Hyderabad, KXIP lost their opener against Delhi Capitals after the game went into super over.
