IPL 2020 RCB vs DC: 5 key battles to look out for in Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Delhi Capitals match tonight

Royal Challengers Bangalore will be looking for their fourth win when they take on Delhi Capitals at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Monday. RCB had started their campaign on a winning note against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) but lost to Kings XI Punjab in match two.

However, the Virat Kohli-led side bounced back in style and registered two consecutive wins. The good news for them is their leader Kohli is back in form. In the previous match, he played a sizzling knock of 72 off 53 balls to guide the team its third victory of the season.

Delhi Capitals too made a winning start to their IPL 2020 journey after beating KXIP in a Super Over thriller. The Shreyas Iyer side won their second game on the bounce defeating Chennai Super Kings by 44 runs. However, the Delhi side failed to make a hat-trick of wins as they were toppled by Sunrisers Hyderabad.

But the side bounced back in the next match, beating Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). A win in tonight’s game, will propel one of the teams to the top of the points table and here are the key battles to look out for.

IPL 2020 RCB vs DC: Prithvi Shaw vs Devdutt Paddikal

Devdutt Padikkal continued to impress in his maiden IPL season after scoring his third fifty from four matches against RR. The left-hander, opening the batting, scored 63 off 45 balls and played a pivotal role in RCB’s third win of the season. RCB will want the youngster to come good as they seek their fourth win.

His contemporary in Delhi team, Prithvi Shaw, too is having a great IPL 2020 season. Two 50s in four games, the youngster has played a pivotal role in giving DC a much needed early boost on the scoreboard. His 64 off 53 balls against CSK, and 66 off 41 balls against SRH had helped the team in posting big targets. DC would want Shaw to click once more as they look to table toppers.

IPL 2020 RCB vs DC: Shreyas Iyer vs Virat Kohli

The RCB skipper did not score too many in his first three outings in the IPL 2020, but Virat Kohli returned to form and did so in some style against RR. The right-hander scored a match-winning 72* off 53 balls and went past 5500 IPL runs. Virat will be looking forward to having an encore of his performance against RR when RCB take on DC.

Shreyas Iyer, meanwhile, was clearing the fence for fun during his 88-run unbeaten blitz against KKR. The DC captain hit 7 fours and 6 sixes in his 38-ball stay in the middle. While the venue for RCB’s game is not Sharjah, Iyer will be eager to continue in the same vein.

IPL 2020 RCB vs DC: R Ashwin vs Yuzvendra Chahal

With 8 wickets against his name, Yuzvendra Chahal is jointly holding the top spot in the list of the leading wicket-takers in IPL 2020. The wily leg-spinner picked up his second three-wicket haul to set up RCB’s win over RR. It will be fascinating to witness how he gets about his game against the big-hitters like Prithvi Shaw, Iyer, Shikhar Dhawan and Rishabh Pant.

R Ashwin, on the other, will be key to DC spin attack in Abu Dhabi. Known for his clever bowling, the off-break spinner is one of the best spin bowlers in power play overs. If nothing clicks, Iyer might look towards Ashwin to chip some early RCB wickets.

IPL 2020 RCB vs DC: Isuru Udana vs Kagiso Rabadda

Udana has shown promise to become one of the most successful IPL bowlers. His performance against Rajasthan Royals where he chipped two crucial wickets in Steve Smith and Robin Uthappa helped the team to stop RR at 154. He will once again be important in getting early success against DC.

Rabadda, on the other hand, is currently the joint-highest wicket-taker with Chahal and Trent Boult. The pacers best performance so far came against CSK where he took three wickets and conceded 26 runs. DC would hope their lead bowler to continue the form against RCB in Abu Dhabi.

IPL 2020 RCB vs DC: Shikhar Dhawan vs AB de Villiers

When it comes to hitting big and long, there are no better top-order batsmen than ABD and Shikhar Dhawan. Both the players have been pivotal in their team high-scoring performances and once again all eyes will be on them as RCB and DC look for their fourth win of the tournament.
