Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli achieved a rare milestone on Sunday as he becomes only the third Indian player after MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma to hit 200 sixes in the Indian Premier League. Kohli achieved the feat against Chennai Super Kings during the match no. 44 of IPL 2020.
Coming into the match, Kohli was just one six away from reaching the milestone and in the 17th over of the game, the 31-year-old smashed a maximum off Ravindra Jadeja’s delivery to complete his ‘double century’ of sixes.
In the comprehensive view, Kohli is the fifth batsman after Chris Gayle (336), AB de Villiers (231), MS Dhoni (216), and Rohit Sharma (209) to reach the landmark.
Interestingly, Kohli is already the leading run-getter in IPL with 5827 runs in his tally, and the Team India skipper also concluded 9000 runs in T20s recently thus becoming the first Indian player to reach the landmark.

Talking about the match, RCB won the toss and they opted to bat first.
Notably, Kohli’s team are having a dream season and are placed third on the points table with 14 points, the same as the table-toppers MI and Delhi Capitals. RCB will be keen to register a win in today’s game to improve their chances of finishing in the top 2 teams heading to the playoffs.

On the other hand, IPL 2020 has been a forgettable one, so far, for CSK as Chennai are on the cusp of elimination, having only three wins to their name. CSK have to win the rest of their matches and hope that the results of other games also go in their favour. But if Chennai fail to qualify, it will be the first time that they’d fall outside the top four in their IPL history.
