Talking about the points table then, Chennai Super Kings thrashed Kings XI Punjab by 10 wickets in the match no.18 of Indian Premier League 2020 on Sunday to move to sixth position.

MS Dhoni-led side achieved a 179-run target with remarkable ease and it was a much-needed victory for them after they suffered three defeats in a row.

Shane Watson (83 not out) and Faf du Plessis (87 not out) ensured that there was no close finish this time, reducing the match to a ‘no-contest’ with their authoritative batting.

The seasoned Australian punished the KXIP bowlers with 11 fours and three sixes in his 53-ball unbeaten knock while Du Plessis hit 11 fours and a six from 53 balls to also remain not out.

On the other hand, KXIP skipper KL Rahul had hit a well-paced 63 to lead Kings XI Punjab to a competitive 178 for four after electing to bat but in the absence of good bowlers it was an onerous task to stop the experienced CSK brigade.

Meanwhile, KXIP slipped to the bottom place in the points table after their latest loss.

Earlier in the day, Mumbai Indians went to the top of the points tally after they defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad in Sharjah.
