IPL 2020 Orange Cap: Top 5 most consistent players so far

The 13th season of Indian Premier League 2020 is getting closer to its playoffs stage. With 47 matches players, it has been a great spectacle to watch batsmen from the eight franchises sending the leather over the ropes in every game.

Shrugging off all the rustiness of the seven months forced break due to COVID-19, batsmen have been in top gear, pulling off some of the best performances in their IPL career. InsideSport brings you top 5 most consistent batsmen of IPL 2020 so far.

KL Rahul (Kings XI Punjab): 595 runs in 12 games

The list cannot begin without mentioning KL Rahul. The KXIP skipper has been at a completely different level this IPL season. The only Indian batsman to score three consecutive 500+ runs in IPL, he is hitting a purple patch to keep the orange cap firmly on his head.

Rahul ha scored runs at a splendid average of over 59 which is the highest in the tournament. He has scored 5 fifties and a century (132*) against Royal Challengers Bangalore. He has been the single reason that KXIP is still afloat in the IPL playoff race.

Shikhar Dhawan (Delhi Capitals): 471 runs in 12 games

After struggling in the initial stage of the season and facing criticism for his slow batting, Shikhar “Gabbar” Dhawan has bounced back in style. The only batsman to score consecutive hundreds in IPL, Dhawan is currently second in the orange cap race. His best of the season is 106*. Besides this he has scored two fifties. The Delhi Capitals’ opener has scored runs with the strike rate of 148 and an average of over 52.

David Warner (Sunrisers Hyderabad): 436 runs in 12 games

Warner’s scintillating 66 off 34 balls on Tuesday against Delhi Capitals helped Hyderabad beat Delhi Capitals. With the crucial two points in the kitty, SRH were back in the IPL playoff race.

Virat Kohli (Royal Challengers Bangalore): 415 runs in 11 games

The only batsman who has played 11 games and is still strong in the IPL Orange Cap list. Virat Kohli, for the first time since 2016 has looked like a true RCB captain. He has been leading his side from the front, hitting nearly 59 runs in every match on an average. Going into the competition after a long break, Kohli like many others did not have a perfect start and struggled quite a bit initially, but then turned things around drastically, the same way champion players like him are known for. He will be key to lead RCB to their maiden IPL title this year. RCB are currently placed third in the IPL points table.

Faf du Plessis (Chennai Super Kings): 401 runs in 12 games

Probably the only player in the now eliminated Chennai Super Kings camp who was in form this season. The former Proteas star has been consistently scoring for his team throughout the tournament and currently finds himself in the fifth place in IPL Orange Cap list. With 401 runs in 12 matches, he is the only constant in CSK’s otherwise shaky playing XI. He has four fifties this season so far and the highest score of 87*.
