None of the Indian Premier League team will be allowed to fly out of the country before 20th August by the Board of Control for Cricket in India. In the IPL GC held yesterday, it was decided and now will be communicated to the teams that they can’t fly to UAE before 20th August. This has been done for two reasons.
– First BCCI is still awaits permissions from the Government of India
– Secondly BCCI will set its Covid19 protocols first before allowing any team to travel to UAE.
These instructions from the board will halt MS Dhoni led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) plans to reach UAE by 10th August for its training camp. As reported by InsideSport, CSK management was planning to leave for UAE via Chartered flights by 10th Aug to acclimatize their team – but now all those plans will be put-off till 20th August.
“The BCCI hopes to get all the necessary documents for hosting the tournament overseas by this week from the government and only after setting up a bio-secure bubble will the teams be allowed to go there. We want to create a complete safe-zone for the teams” a source told InsideSport

IPL 2020 : GC Meeting with franchise representatives only after Government permissions
To soothe the nerves, IPL GC had yesterday made some key announcements on the IPL 2020. But the IPL franchises are still waiting for the official meeting with the IPL Governing Council which InsideSport was told will be done only after the government permissions are secured.
After the IPL GC meeting got over last night, InsideSport spoke to representatives of the few franchises who were as clueless as they were before but relieved that official announcements in regard to IPL 2020 have come in.
“Good, BCCI has made official announcement about IPL 2020. But we are yet to hear from them. Our issues in regard to logistics stay the same. Each hour lost is making our task more difficult to arrange for everything on time”, said one of the franchise representative.
BCCI on the other hand wants entire IPL Caravan to move on the set date to UAE. All franchises landing in the UAE on the same day will mean creating a bubble from the airport to their respective hotels, which will then be the norm for the next two months of IPL.
How it will be ensured ? BCCI is still finalizing the plans around it.
Meanwhile, CSK, Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders and various others who were ready to travel to UAE before 15th August will have to postpone their plans for few days.
IPL 2020 : For franchises, this week will be all about finalization of sponsors
For the franchises next 10 days will be extremely critical. On the one hand they would have to ensure the logistics in regard to their travel to UAE, on the commercial front they have a mammoth task on hand.
As reported by InsideSport, most of the franchises are staring at sponsorship loses due to change of window and venue for IPL. Some of them have even lost their headline sponsors.
‘Now as it is official that IPL 2020 is happening, we will try to finalized our pending sponsorship deals in next 10 days’, said a senior franchise official.
