Ravichandran Ashwin’s reported move from Kings XI Punjab to Delhi Capitals has been stalled as the player and his present team have reportedly failed to reach an understanding over revenue sharing.

Delhi Capitals have arrived at an all cash deal to acquire Ashwin from Kings XI Punjab for the Indian Premier League 2020 season. Though the exact deal between the two franchisees has not been revealed, KXIP will be getting a premium over Ashwin’s ₹7.6 crore annual fee. The player as per rules can negotiate for up to 50% share on the “premium”.

The spinner, the paper has reported, is in negotiations with KXIP over his share in the additional amount that Delhi Capitals will be offering to buy him ahead of the next season.

KXIP CEO Satish Menon meanwhile had denied any disagreements with the player, saying the sale will only go through when the KXIP board sanctions it. “I can say there is no such issue and the sale would happen only when the board of the franchise gives the go-ahead. Ashwin was in the UK for county games till recently and our board has not met yet,” the paper has quoted Menon as saying.

Delhi Capitals mentor Sourav Ganguly had first sparked speculation about Ashwin’s move to the GMR-JSW-owned IPL team with his comments that “we would be more than happy to have Ashwin in our team”.

The reports later confirmed that the Delhi IPL team is buying the veteran off-spinner, who also makes valuable contribution with the willow.

Meanwhile, it is also reported that the KXIP has shortlisted four candidates – Mike Hussey, Andy Flower, Darren Lehmann and George Bailey – for selection of the chief coach for the upcoming IPL season.

Under Bailey, the Punjab team had done its best by making it to the 2014 IPL final.
