Kings XI Punjab will lock horns against Sunrisers Hyderabad in match 43 of Dream11 Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Saturday.
Courtesy of KL Rahul and Chris Gayle, KXIP will be coming into the game as the favourites after three consecutive wins against Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians, who are currently placed in the top half of the points table.
Rahul has been in red-hot form this season. In 10 matches he has scored 540 runs and is currently the orange cap holder. Gayle, on the other hand, has given Kings XI a much-needed stability in the top-order.
KXIP and SRH share the same points in the IPL 2020 points table. A win today will take Punjab directly to the fourth spot, and an inch closer to the IPL playoffs. So “Can Rahul-Gayle combo give KXIP its fourth consecutive win or will SRH bowling attack stop it from happening?”
IPL 2020: Mr Cosecutive — KL Rahul
If there is any batsman who has benefited the most from the forced break due to covid-19 it is KL Rahul. The 28-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman has single-handedly won matches for his team which struggled in the first half of the tournament.
KL Rahul’s performance in last 3 games
61 (49) against Delhi Capitals
77 (51) against Royal Challengers Bangalore
15 (11) against Mumbai Indians
Although he failed to play another inspiring knock against MI, Rahul scored two consecutive fifties before that. In his last three games alone, he has scored 153 runs. He will once again be key to KXIP’s batting in Dubai.
IPL 2020: Gayle-storm in Dubai?
BCCI chief Sourav Ganguly, commented on Gayle and said that people think that he just keeps laughing and roaming around but being benched for long pinched him. The statement sums up everything Gayle has done so far. Fifty in the first game of the season, two crucial knocks in his last two matches, and giving stability to KXIP’s top-order; his late inclusion to playing XI has done wonders for the team.
Gayle in his first match of IPL 2020, scored an impressive 53 off 45 balls against the mighty Delhi Capitals. The Windies old warhorse has donned the hat as No.3 this season. With Rahul and Mayank Agarwal as openers, he has given the needed depth to the team.
Chris Gayle’s performance in last 3 games
53 (45) against Delhi Capitals
24 (21) against Royal Challengers Bangalore
29 (13) against Mumbai Indians
KXIP will be looking for another big knock from the Universe Boss in their quest for the IPL playoff qualification.
IPL 2020: A must-win match for KXIP and SRH
In their last meeting, the David Warner-led unit beat KL Rahul and Co by 69 runs. While SRH will be eager to have an encore of that performance, KXIP will be eyeing their fourth win on the bounce. Two points will be crucial for both the team as it will get them closer to the IPL 2020 playoffs. However, a loss would make things difficult for them.
