IPL 2020 Finals MI vs DC : It is a very big day for Delhi Capitals as now they are on a cusp of winning their first IPL title in 13 years. But DC is sweating out on the fitness of their key spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. The news coming in from Delhi Capitals camp is that all is not well with Ashwin’s shoulder.
Physio and support-staff is working overtime on Ashwin’s shoulder and trying their best to get him match ready for the big-finals.
“Ashwin’s shoulder is giving him troubles. But I am sure, he will manage to pull it through the finals”, said source close to the Delhi Capitals team.
IPL 2020 Finals : What’s bothering Ashwin ?
According to source, Ashwin has been carrying shoulder injury from sometime now but has been managing quite well. He looked in discomfort in the Qualifier 2 as well when he came to bowl his second spell.
– Against RCB, Ashwin bowled solitary over with the new ball and when he returned he was just bowling carrom balls.
– TV expert Graeme Swann was quick to notice the same and asked, whether Ashwin’s injury was preventing him from bowling regular off-breaks and affecting his bowling.
Ashwin has bowled beautifully this season and has taken 13 wickets from 14 games giving away 7.72 runs per over. On the face of it, there is nothing striking about those figures. But scratch the surface, you will get a clearer picture. He has struck at the crucial junctures of the match to keep Delhi in the hunt. Biggest the batsman, better Ashwin has bowled.
Moreover, it’s not easy to score runs against Ashwin and that puts the pressure on opposition batsmen. The lack of boundaries ultimately force the batters to commit mistakes and throw away their wickets.
Even in the Qualifier 1, the veteran offie had taken three wickets within the first 13 overs before Mumbai wriggled out through Hardik Pandya assault in the death overs. Ashwin will have to repeat his feat if Delhi has to win the IPL title first time.
IPL 2020 Finals : Will Delhi play with 3 spinners or will they make a change ?
Despite of carrying injury, Ashwin will have to not only play but perform a big role tonite. DC management also has to take one big call on the playingXI for IPL Finals. Mumbai Indians has three left handers in their line-up and amid that will it be prudent to trust rookie leg spinner Praveen Dubey or make a change ?
Everyone in the DC camp is tightlipped about the playingXI – but indications are that their may be a toss up between Dubey and Harshal Patel for the final place in the playingXI.
Delhi Capitals Likely XI for Finals: 1 Shikhar Dhawan, 2 Marcus Stoinis, 3 Ajinkya Rahane, 4 Shreyas Iyer (capt), 5 Shimron Hetmyer, 6 Rishabh Pant (wk), 7 Axar Patel, 8 Praveen Dubey/Harshal Patel, 9 Kagiso Rabada, 10 R Ashwin, 11 Anrich Nortje.
