DC restricted SRH to 172/8 in the allotted 20 overs while defending a 190-run target.
Rabada (4/29) first got rid of dangerous David Warner (2) with his first ball to give the Capitals the start they wanted and then the pacer ran through the SRH lower order to seal the match for the Capitals, who will now take on Mumbai Indians in IPL 2020 final.
In the process, the South African pacer return to the top of the Purple Cap tally thus replacing MI’s pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who is now on second position in the leading-wicket taker tally.
Rabada now has 29 wickets to his name, while Bumrah has accounted for 27 wickets so far. With both the bowlers playing the IPL 2020 final, the Purple Cap race will go right down to the wire.
However, speaking at the post-match presentation ceremony, Rabada had no qualms in saying that he would trade all his wicket for an IPL title for Delhi Capitals, who are yet to lift it in 13-year history.
“(Purple Cap) is secondary, the primary is winning the tournament. If we win the tournament I don’t mind taking any wickets,” Rabada said.
“Delhi has never reached the final since the IPL has begun, so we are glad to take the team to this height and now it’s all about sealing it off. We have two days to regenerate, get some rest and hopefully make history.”
The 25-year-old, who castled Warner in the beginning of the SRH’s innings, also revealed that he had a tiff to settle with the Aussie opener.
“Warner came quite hard in the previous game we played against them, so wanted to get one back at him. He is a fantastic player. There was a bit of swing and so wanted to go full and straight, and it paid off. He was a key player,” the South African said.
