IPL 2020 final: Another season of Indian Premier League (IPL) is nearing an end. Mumbai Indians (MI) and Delhi Capitals (DC) on Tuesday will lock horns in IPL 2020 final. Interestingly, it will not be a usual IPL final. Due to the pandemic, cricket’s ultimate showdown will be different from its predecessors.

One of the main difference is that there will be no closing ceremony. Furthermore, keeping in line with the COVID-19 protocols, the finals will be held behind closed doors.

2) IPL 2020 final: No closing ceremony due to pandemic

BCCI will not be holding any closing ceremony this year due to the pandemic. However, it will not come as a surprise as the national cricket body had cancelled the opening ceremony too.

3) IPL 2020 final: No saliva on the ball

In a recent ruling passed by the International Cricket Council (ICC) in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic, the apex body confirmed interim changes to its playing regulations, which include the ban on the use of saliva to shine the ball and allowing home umpires in international series. It also decided to allow teams to have a replacement for players showing Covid-19 symptoms in Test matches.

4) IPL 2020 final: Delhi Capital to play their first final

For the first time, Delhi Capitals have qualified for the IPL finals and will be looking for their maiden title.

5) IPL 2020 final: New partners

The Indian Premier League Governing Council (IPL GC) announced India’s largest learning platform Dream11 as Official Partner for IPL. The partnership will cover three seasons of IPL.

6) IPL 2020 final: Title Sponsor (2020 – Dream11, 2019 -VIVO)

 The IPL Governing Council has announced the schedule for Dream11 Indian Premier League 2020 to be held in UAE. The season will kickstart on 19th September in Abu Dhabi with a blockbuster clash between defending champions Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings.

7) IPL 2020 final: In a first, final to be held in November

This is the first in IPL history that finals will be held in November. Taking note of the prevailing COVID-19 situation in India, the IPL GC decided to stage the tournament in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

8) IPL 2020 final: No fans present in the stadium for the first time

With the rising cases of Covid-19 and to maintain the norms of social distancing, the IPL 2020 final will be played without the presence of fans in the stadium.
