IPL 2020 : Delhi Capitals Masterstroke hailed, Stoinis is the new ‘SuperHero’

IPL 2020 Delhi enters Finals : Delhi Capitals hit bullseye with this Masterstroke. Masterstroke of sending Marcus Stoinis as opener against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Stoinis along with Shikhar Dhawan not only gave a great start to DC but also became a SuperHero of the day as he also took 3 SRH wickets at crucial times to win the game for his team.

Delhi Capitals Masterstroke – InsideSport had already revealed that Coach Ricky Ponting was the brain behind Stoinis promotion as opening partner of Shikhar Dhawan. Out of form Prithvi Shaw was dropped and Stoinis was promoted as an opener.
Interestingly, the decision turned out to be a masterstroke by DC as Stoinis gave a flying start to the Delhi and in the process stitched an important 86 runs partnership with Shikhar Dhawan for the first wicket in just 8.2 overs which ultimately helped the team set a 190-run target and then beat Hyderabad by 17 runs to enter their maiden IPL final.
Stoinis, who generally comes to bat at no. 5 or 6 for the side, smashed 38 off 27 balls, which included 5 fours and a six, before Rashid Khan bowled him in the ninth over of the match.

“I have done it in the Big Bash League for a couple of seasons and it was nice to get an opportunity in the IPL,” Stoinis said in the post-match conference.

DC will now take on defending champions Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2020 final on November 10 in Dubai.


IPL 2020 Finals : Dhawan-Stoinis pair to continue, Shaw will again sit-out

With Stoinis-Dhawan giving solid start to DC, the team management will continue with the pair in the IPL 2020 finals against Mumbai Indians as well. This means once again Prithvi Shaw will be out of playing XI of DC.

  • Shikhar is the highest scorer for DC in this IPL with 603 runs and two back to back centuries to his name.
  • Dhawan is only the second batsman after KL Rahul to cross the 600-run mark. He is currently second in the Orange Cap tally.
  • Stoinis on the other hand has already made 346 runs from 16 games with an average of 28.83 and a strike rate of 151.09. The Australian all-rounder has 3 half-centuries to his name.
