Rajasthan Royals would be eyeing revenge when it takes on Delhi Capitals again in the Indian Premier League on Wednesday in Dubai. RR will be riding high on confidence coming off from a thrilling penultimate ball win against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday. They will want to continue their winning run to keep in the IPL playoffs race.
Delhi Capitals, on the other hand, were humbled by IPL points table leader’s Mumbai Indians. Ishant Sharma and Rishabh Pant’s injury added to their woes.
Three reason Rajasthan Royals can take their revenge on Delhi Capitals
Reason 1: Return of Ben Stokes
The arrival of the talismanic English all-rounder has more or less settled things for Rajasthan Royals. The last time the two teams clashed, RR did not have Stokes in the ranks. And even though the England all-round did not set the stage on fire in his first game, his presence inspired the inaugural champions to end a four-match losing streak.
“With Stokesy back, it brings a nice balance to us. He just bowled one over as he just got out of a lockdown and is just working back into things,” Smith had said.
Stokes will be an important cog in the RR wheel and will provide new batting and bowling options for the team. To balance it out, RR might promote Robin Uthappa to his natural opening position with Jos Butler and Stokes to No.5.
Reason 2: Rahul Tewatia “Naam to Sunna Hoga”
Many believed that Rahul Tewatia’s performance against Kings XI Punjab was a fluke. But the Haryana-boy showed that it was more than a fluke. His 45 off 28 balls was instrumental in Rajasthan’s win against SRH.
He showed that he can send the ball flying over the ropes even in bigger grounds like Dubai. RR would be hoping for their trump card to shine once more on Wednesday.
Reason 3: No Rishabh Pant and Shimron Hetmeyer
In their previous encounter, until Shimron Hetmeyer’s 45 off 24 balls riot in the death overs, RR were the favourites to win the game. The Windies went all guns blazing against the likes of Jofra Archer and Andrew Tye to help DC reach a big total of 184.
However, he is likely to miss the game due to Rishabh Pant. The Indian-wicketkeeper batsman has been ruled out for a week, because of which DC decided to bring a natural keeper in Alex Carey. If the Australian cricketer comes in, there is no place for Hetmeyer in the playing XI.
