Unfortunately, since the inception of IPL, DC haven’t even reached a single final of the tournament, so a million-dollar question is – Can they break the jinx this time?

Interestingly, Delhi, who are the third-youngest side in IPL 2020 have fared pretty well in this season and it will motivate them to fancy their chances in IPL 13. Let’s have a look at some important reasons why Delhi can play their maiden IPL final in 2020:

Dominating Dhawan: DC opener Shikhar Dhawan is in the form of his life as he recently smashed back-to-back centuries in IPL 2020, thus becoming the only player to achieve the feat. Those centuries not only added runs to his Orange Cap tally, but also boosted his confidence which is visible in his batting. The southpaw is currently the third-highest scorer in the tournament and his rich form will be a major plus for DC when they take on MI on November 5.

Reliable Rahane: After failing in first few games, Ajinkya Rahane returned to form just in right time as he smashed 60 off 46 balls, playing orthodox cricket, in his last game against RCB. The major benefit of having Rahane in the team is that he is flexible with his batting position and can be utilised according to the situation of the game. He can score quick runs if needed and he can even provide stability to the innings.

Intelligent Iyer: DC skipper Shreyas Iyer have surely learned a lot from the other senior players in the team about captaincy, tactics, handling pressure as well as a team, as it is noticeable in his approach towards the game in this season. The 25-year-old has been performing consistently with the willow as well and 421 runs in his kitty are a testament of that. From taking crucial decisions as a captain to scoring runs, Iyer is surely leading his side from the front and that will definitely boost the morale of DC.

All-rounders delivering at the right time

DC all-rounders Marcus Stoinis and Axar Patel have delivered at crucial stages and won some important games for the teams with their all-round performance. They are asset for DC and if they are on song then they will be a big headache for MI in the Qualifier 1 as they have the ability to finish the games with their big-hitting prowess.

Solid Bowling Unit

Delhi Capitals have one of the best bowling unit this season. From Kagiso Rabada, who is currently the highest wicket-taker in IPL 2020, to Anrich Nortje, who recently bowled the fastest delivery in the history of IPL, DC have bowlers to fear from. Not only the pace attack, but their spin department is also very effective with experienced Ravichandran Ashwin leading the unit with his economical, as well as wicket-taking bowling.

DC will have to be careful of Bumrah-Boult threat

If Delhi Capitals want to outplay the defending champions in Qualifier 1 then they will have to be very careful for the opening overs of their innings and not lose a wicket in the starting 6-7 overs. MI’s lethal pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult give the team upper hand by removing early wickets and putting the opposition on the backfoot. This is where DC will have to strategise and make things difficult for the Rohit Sharma-led team by not giving them any early breakthroughs.
