It has got from bad to worse for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) this IPL 2020. With every passing match this season MS Dhoni-led CSK is going notch lower in their performance. Whatever slim chance CSK had to qualify for the playoffs of IPL 2020 has got completely wiped out with what they showcased during the game against Mumbai Indians on Friday evening. During their pathetic batting & bowling performance CSK ended up creating 5 Horror Records.

CSK’s Horror Record 1 : 3 for 4 – The Super Kings’ score after 2.5 overs. Only once has a team been four-down for a lower score: Kochi Tuskers were four-down for two runs against the Deccan Chargers in 2011. The Super Kings’ previous lowest score at four-down was 13, also against the Mumbai Indians, at Wankhede Stadium in 2013.

CSK’s Horror Record 2 : Top 4 Batsman back in pavilion with score at 3 Runs – Lowest ever score by top 4 batsman in any IPL innings. The previous lowest was four runs by the Kochi Tuskers’ top four against the Chargers in 2011.

CSK’s Horror Record 3 : Most wickets lost in the first six overs of IPL by CSK. Five wickets lost by CSK in the first 6 overs (Power-play). The worst performance by any team was Kochi Tuskers who had lost 7 wickets in 5 overs.

CSK’s Horror Record 4 :  3 Instances of five of the Super Kings’ top-six batsmen getting out for single-digit scores in the IPL. Incidentally, all of them have come against the Mumbai Indians. The previous two instances were at the Wankhede in 2013 and in Chennai in 2019.

CSK’s Horror Record 5 : Chennai Super Kings slumped to their first-ever 10-wicket loss in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as Mumbai Indians chased down the paltry 115-run target without losing a wicket.

With this pathetic performance CSK now has ended all hopes of qualifying for IPL 2020 playoffs. They are currently in the 8th position in the points table with only 3 victories in 11 games. Even if they end up winning all three, they can’t make it to the playoff stage.

After this horror show, without any doubt it is time for CSK to rebuild the team once again.
