One more IPL game, one more batting failure from Kolkata Knight Riders captain Dinesh Karthik.
Karthik walked back to the pavilion after scoring just a runoff three balls. Notably, this was Karthik’s third failure in succession as he got out cheaply in the previous two games as well.
The 35-year-old scored 30 runs in KKR’s opening game against Mumbai Indians and in the next game against Sunrisers Hyderabad, the Tamil Nadu batsman got out for a duck. As of now, he averages 10.33 in IPL 2020.
KKR captain is now under pressure as these failures may cost him his captaincy.
KKR skipper himself admitted that he needs to up his game after he went for a duck in his previous game.
‘I need to probably up my game and get a few runs,’ Karthik said after the RCB match. However, he failed to deliver once again.
RR vs KKR: Can batting failure against Rajasthan cost Karthik his captaincy?
Being a captain, Karthik is expected to lead Kolkata from the front but that hasn’t been the case so far and that can put his captaincy in jeopardy.
If not Karthik, who can be given the responsibility to lead KKR for the rest of the tournament?
Knight Riders has a world cup winner England white-ball captain Eoin Morgan in the side. In case team management decides to replace Karthik, Morgan is likely to be given the responsibility to captain KKR.
