Indian Basketball: Elite Pro Basketball organizes India’s biggest Basketball Try Out

In a first of its kind in India, Elite pro Basketball is all set to organize India’s biggest basketball tryout on the 12th and 13th of May 2022 at the Sri Kotla Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy Stadium in Hyderabad. Over 250 athletes take part in the tryout and also include big names from the Indian basketball team like Jagdeep Singh Bains, Pratham Singh, K Ravikumar, Vinay Kaushik, Rachit Singh, Prakash Mishra, Arshdeep Singh amongst others.

Organized by Elite Sports India the try outs are to recruit for India’s first 5×5 Pro Basketball League featuring 12 teams. The try outs will be conducted over two days, the first day will focus on skills and drills while the second day will focus on how the player adapts to playing with different teams and strategy.

The selection committee includes One former Indian selector, Ram Kumar Gahalawat current Railways coach and a Dhyanchand awardee, Jagat Narayan Nehra who is Currently Basketball Coach at Sports Authority of India will shortlist the players to be drafted into the 12 teams.

Talking about the same, CEO of Elite Pro Basketball Pvt, Ltd. Mr. Sunny Bhandarkar said, “We wanted to provide a platform to players to showcase their talents and skills. We are extremely pleased with the response we got. The selection try outs has been carried out with expert advice from the best in the sport of basketball. We are leaving no stones unturned and I am hopeful this league will in turn help improve the game of Basketball in India.”

An excited Jagdeep Singh Bains an Indian professional basketball player and a marquee player for Mumbai Stars says, “I am super excited to be a part of India’s first and only pro Basketball league Elite Pro Basketball League. The players who have come here for the try outs are immensely talented and am sure this will give a platform to grow the sport in India which is much required.”

Commenting on the same, Dhyan Chand Award for lifetime achievement in sports Awardee and current coach of the Indian Railways team Ram Kumar Gahalawat says, “The vision of Elite Pro Basketball is great they are trying not only to promote the game in India but also give a platform to young athletes to make a carrier in Basketball. I have never seen try outs happening at such a big stage and even the talent that has come here is great which is a great prospect to the sport.”
