India vs Select County XI Day 3 Stumps: KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja star performers as the match ends in draw – All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja hit his second fifty while Hanuma Vihari scored 43* as the three-day practice game between India and County Select XI ended in a draw on Thursday.
County Select XI needed 284 runs to win on the final day in the second innings but the side scored 31 in 15.5 overs to walk away with a draw after India had declared their innings on 192/3.
Resuming their first innings on Thursday, County Select XI weren’t able to add any run as they were bowled out at 220/10 in the first half an hour of play. Cheteshwar Pujara and Mayank Agarwal opened the batting for India in the second innings and stitched an 87-run stand for the first wicket. While Pujara scored 38, Mayank got out three runs short of his half-century. Hanuma Vihari and Ravindra Jadeja then carried the Indian innings, stitching an 84-run partnership.
While Vihari scored an unbeaten 43, Jadeja walked off after hitting a fine half-century off 77 deliveries. The visitors declared their second innings on 192-3 and set a target of 284 runs for a win. Jake Libby and Haseeb Hameed both made sure that County Select XI doesn’t lose a wicket as the match ended in a draw.

Day 2
Umesh Yadav’s 3/22 helped Rohit Sharma-led India XI send County Select XI packing early and reserve the third and final day for batting practice at the Riverside Ground in Durham. At stumps, the County Select XI scored 220/9, trailing Indians by 91 runs. With Avesh Khan out of the match, the innings ended for the county side.
Coming out to bat, the Indians rocked County Select XI as Jake Libby (12), Robert Yates (1), and Washington Sundar (1) were dismissed cheaply and the side was reduced to 29/3. Libby was dismissed by Umesh Yadav while Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj got the better of Yates and Sundar respectively.
Haseeb Hameed and Will Rhodes then ensured that the side does not lose more wickets before the Lunch interval, taking the score to 44/3, still trailing Indians by 267 runs.
India vs Select County XI Day 3 LIVE: After the lunch break, Umesh Yadav provided the Indians with the breakthrough of Rhodes (11) and County Select XI was reduced to 56/4. However, Hameed along with Lyndon James retrieved the innings for the side and the duo took the score to 113/4 at the tea interval.
Umesh was once again the go-to man as he sent James (27) back to the pavilion after the tea break. Soon after, Ravindra Jadeja dismissed James Rew (2), and County Select XI was reduced to 159/6, still trailing by 152 runs.
India vs Select County XI Day 3 LIVE: Hameed was able to keep Indians at bay for long, but he finally perished on the bowling of Shardul Thakur, but it was not before he had played a knock of 112 runs. Soon after, Jack Carson (2) was cleaned up by Siraj and the County side was in trouble of being bundled out before stumps.
Liam Patterson-White (33) was sent to the pavilion by Axar Patel and at stumps, County Select XI was reduced to 220/9.
Earlier, resuming Day 2 at 306/9, overnight batters Bumrah and Siraj managed to add just five runs before Bumrah (5) was clean bowled by Craig Miles and as a result, visitors were bowled out for 311 in the first innings.

· Captain Virat Kohli felt some stiffness in his back on late Monday evening and he has been advised rest from the three-day first-class warm-up game by the BCCI Medical Team. (India Practice Match)
· Vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane has mild swelling around his left upper hamstring. This has been addressed by an injection. He is not available for the three-day first-class warm-up game. The BCCI Medical Team is monitoring him, and he is expected to fully recover well in time for the first Test against England starting from 4th August at Nottingham.
· Rohit Sharma is captaining the side for the three-day first-class warm-up game.
· The ECB made a request to the Indian team management to let two players from the Indian contingent play for County Select XI after some of their players were deemed to be unavailable either due to injury or close contacts of a Covid-19 positive person. Accordingly, Washington Sundar and Avesh Khan have been made available to play for their team.

India vs Select County XI Day 2 LIVE: Last week, it was confirmed that wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant tested positive for Covid-19 and as a result, he is not available for this match. Throwdown specialist cum masseur Dayanand Garani also tested positive, and Wriddhiman Saha was asked to isolate as he was a ‘close contact. This has seen KL Rahul coming in as the wicketkeeper.
