India vs Australia 2nd Test Live – 6 Reasons why India will find it very tough to beat Australia in Boxing Day Test : Team India were humilated in Adelaide test. Can Ajinkya Rahane led India turn the tide in the Boxing Day Test and make a comeback in the series. Looks very unlikely. Despite 4 changes in the playing XI, India looks extremely unsettled.
InsideSport has zeroed down on 6 Reasons why it will be extremely tough for Rahane’s XI to beat Australia in MCG Test match –
Reason 1 : Australia is on a red-hot winning streak – Aussies have won all six Tests they’ve played since the end of last year’s Ashes. This is Paine’s best streak since taking over as captain.
On the other hand India is on a 3 match losing streak. India has lost 2 matches against New Zealand and then the first test in Adelaide to lose all tests they have contested this year.
Reason 2 : Australia’s Pace Battery – The fast bowling trio of Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins & Josh Hazlewood will pose extremely tough challenge for Indian batsman. Australian media has hailed them as Australia’s greatest-ever fast-bowling trio.
All three of the current pacemen hold spots in the top seven of the ICC’s Test bowling rankings, with Cummins sitting pretty at the top of the list and Hazlewood (fifth) and Starc (seventh) not far behind.
Will Indian batting line up of Mayank Aggarwal, Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Hanuma Vihari, Ajinkya Rahane, Jadeza will have in them to tackle Aussie pace battery ? Looks very tough
Reason 3 : Steven Smith Record in MCG – Smith averages 62 in 74 tests overall. But his average in MCG goes pass even 100. Smith has played 9 matches in MCG and has scored 908 runs at a average of 113.5 with 4 hundred. How India will get him out ?
Reason 4 : Where is the experience in the Indian XI – Indian openers both in bowling & batting lack experience. Shubman Gill will be entrusted to open Indian batting and Mohammed Siraj will be given new ball – their lack of experience may prove little costly for India
Reason 5 : Will India have a stomach to fight ? – After being shot out of 36, it will be tough for any team to make a comeback. And India will be also without their best batsman (Virat Kohli) and best bowler (Mohammed Shami) of recent times. Will India have a stomach to might ? Can they stand up to the Australians ? Looks Unlikely.
Reason 6 : Wrong Team Selection – By benching KL Rahul for 2nd consecutive test, Indian team management has erred in selecting their playingXI.
Gautam Gambhir, Tom Moody, Irfan Pathan, Harsha Bhogle, Shane Warne, K.Srikanth all have shown their displeasure in the way Rahul is being treated by the team management.
