India tour of Sri Lanka: Yuzvendra Chahal declares, ‘You will see more confident Yuzi in this series’: India’s leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal in a recent interview made a strong statement that we will see a more confident side of him in the build-up to the ODI series against Sri Lanka. Chahal added that he will focus on a couple of variations in his armory.
“I’ve a couple of variations and I’m focusing on that only, not using other deliveries. You will see a more confident Yuzi in this series. I’m just working on my angles and in general trying to bowl more,” Yuzvendra Chahal told ESPNCricinfo.
The spinner has informed that he would be the senior spinner under the coaching of Rahul Dravid in order to have an influence on youngsters.

Notably, Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav were key members of the ODI team heading into the World Cup 2019. However, Chahal average after 2019 WC has dipped to 37.12 in ODIs and the economy rate has risen to 6.45.
He last played an ODI for India against Australia in November 2020. Since then, he has only played the shortest version of the game.
“My performance – I don’t think it was a dip [in form] or anything. “You can’t perform in every match. I will try my level best. This series is very important to me,” Chahal was quoted as saying by ESPNCricinfo.
“I keep having conversations with the bowling coach. They [management] have given us confidence, and that’s why I’m here. If it wasn’t there, no one in the team [would be here].
My main focus at the moment is just this series – there’s been lesser cricket over the last year, but that’s not in our hands. Whatever series happens, we want to perform. After this series, my focus will be on the IPL, and only then the [T20] World Cup. Right now, I’m focusing on this tour only,” he concluded.
