India tour of England: Sunil Gavaskar declares, ‘Anderson & Broad won’t be lethal on dry England pitches’: India’s batting maestro Sunil Gavaskar minced hopeful words for Virat Kohli-led Team India after their bitter defeat in the World Test Championship Final against New Zealand. Gavaskar backed Indian batsmen in his statement and asserted that the batting line-up won’t have a tough time against Jimmy Anderson and Stuart Broad on the dry pitches in the upcoming five-match red-ball series against England.
“Indian batsmen need not worry about the series against England in August-September as the sun will be out by then and the pitches will be drier and with the greatest of respect, if Jimmy Anderson and Stuart Broad don’t get wickets in their first spell, they struggle in their next spells,” wrote Gavaskar in his column of The Telegraph.
The former Indian player vested trust and added confidence to the Indian Team who failed to put up a desired show in the WTC Final in Southampton.
“The English summer has begun with disappointment [for India] but when disappointment fuels determination then fortunes can be turned and that’s the attitude this talented team need to make this a truly Indian summer,” said Gavaskar.

The challenge to bounce back weighs equally on Joe Root led England side who faced a crushing defeat against New Zealand at their home ground in the two-match Test series during early June. While Stuart Broad managed to rattle six wickets in the two matches, James Anderson managed to topple just three wickets.
