India tour of England: Ollie Pope likely to miss out first Test against India after sustaining a thigh muscle injury: Unpleasant news emerged from team England’s camp as the Three Lions wicket-keeper batsman Ollie Pope picked up thigh injury ahead of the Test series against India. This has put his availability in doubt as mentioned by ECB and Surrey fitness teams.

A statement from the ECB said: “Pope has been ruled out until England’s LV= Insurance Test Series against India after suffering a left thigh muscle injury. The ECB and Surrey fitness teams will work together to deliver Pope’s rehabilitation with a focus for him to be available to return for the first Test against India.”

The 23-year-old English batsman picked up the thigh muscle injury while playing for Surrey against Kent in the Vitality Blast on July 2. Pope’s unfortunate picked-up injury might axe him his involvement from The Hundred. Under the normal fit conditions, he had a likely chance to have been available for Welsh Fire’s first three fixtures.

India tour of England: Who will fill Pope’s shoes in his absence?

India and England are to square off in five-match Test series starting from August 4. While team India are confused about whom to rope in owing to Shubman Gill’s injury and Cheteshwar Pujara’s off-colour performance, England will also have to look for a replacement to Pope’s absence.

The injury might see in the incoming of Dawid Malan owing to the display of his sublime form with the bat. Besides, Dan Lawrence is yet another player on the radar who could feature for the Three Lions.
