India tour of Australia: 5 Indian players who will be playing in ODI series against Aussies for the first time

India tour of Australia: It will a test of grit and determination for Virat Kohli’s men as they gear up to take on Australia in a full-fledged tour starting November 27. After a gruelling Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 in United Arab Emirates (UAE), the players joined Team India for a camp in Sydney prior to the three-match ODI series.

It is the first series for Virat Kohli led side since the forced break due to pandemic since March. Moreover, it will be the first series which will be contested in front of a sell-out crowd this year.

India will play three ODI, three T20Is and four Test series against the Men from Down Under.

While, the Men in Blue mainly comprises of the regular faces, there are some who will be donning the national shirt for the first time. Furthermore, there are few who will be playing against Australia in ODI in away fixture for the first time.

Here are the top 5 players who have never played against the Aussies in ODI in away fixture.

  1. T Natarajan:

He is probably the find of the season, at least in terms of bowling. Nicknamed “Nattu”, he exceptional bowling display especially the pinpoint yorkers have earned him the title of “Yorker King”. In 16 games he chipped 16 wickets at an economy of 8.02. His best figure was 2/24. Natarajan replaced the injured Varun Chakravarthy to be included in the T20 squad. He will be making his debut for Team India with the series.

Navdeep Saini:

Saini might not be the highest wicket-takers for his team or IPL in general, but he was an important piece in RCB’s jigsaw puzzle. With 6 wickets in 13 games, Saini was RCB’s spearhead in the power play. What he lacked in speed, he covered up with his shrewd tactical bowling and swingers. He is part of the Indian squad for all three formats.

Mayank Agarwal:

If there was anyone after KL Rahul in Kings XI Punjab, who showed his mettle with the willow, it was Mayank Agarwal. In 11 matches, he scored 424 runs at a strike rate of 156.45. He has played Test series against Australia but will be for the first time be playing the ODIs.

Thanks to his performance in IPL, he is part of the Indian squad for all three formats.

Prithvi Shaw

All eyes will be on the youngster as he seeks to revive his lost-form. Shaw has a blistering start to IPL, scoring two fifties in first half of the tournament. However, he faded away in the second half, with the Delhi Capitals team management eventually deciding to bench him in the playoffs. He has played on three ODI matches so far, and that too against New Zealand. Shaw is part of India’s Test squad.

KL Rahul

The versatile batsman KL Rahul has been given the vice-captain in the absence of Rohit Sharma. Mr. Consistent will also be keeping the wickets for Team India. Been part of the national squad for several years now, it is surprising that he has never played ODI against Australia in away fixture. He has been part of the Test and T20 series against the host nation.
