India T20 WC Exit: IND ENG Semifinal: India’s exit from the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 has a ripple effect. While there were signs, a 10-wicket humiliation by England in the semifinals has now sealed the fate of several stars. Both Ravichandran Ashwin and Dinesh Karthik have played their last game for India in T20Is. Mohammad Shami too is unlikely to get many opportunities in future. The situation regarding Bhuvneshwar Kumar is also not optimistic. The biggest names of them all are Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. The star duo will be gradually phased out from T20Is. Regardless of India’s exit, BCCI had already set a transition plan for them, especially with T20 WC 2024 in mind. As Rohit will soon turn 35, he will need to pick and choose tournaments. Hence, it is illogical to retain him as T20 captain for 2024. Instead, 29-year-old Hardik Pandya is the front-runner. But on their way out are the veterans like Karthik, Ashwin, Bhuvneshwar and Shami are also set to be phased out.

Dinesh Karthik to vacate his space for Rishabh Pant, Ashwin set to bid adieu from T20 format?
The first two players who are likely to replace them are R Ashwin and Dinesh Karthik. Dinesh is already 37 and he will be 39 when the next T20 WC will be played on the other hand R Ashwin had a below-par campaign. Dinesh will most likely be replaced by Rishabh Pant while R Ashwin will make way for Washington Sundar. However, Rahul Dravid refused to divulge.
“We’ve got a couple of years to reflect on it. These are some really quality players here. Not the right time to talk about or think about this stuff now. We’ll have enough time, enough matches as we go on ahead and try to prepare for the next World Cup,” said Dravid.

End of Bhuvneshwar and Shami in T20I format?
A terrific bowler on seam-friendly wicket and a pretty ordinary seamer on batting tracks, that is how Bhuvneshwar has been of late. He has made batters dance to his tunes with swinging deliveries. But when there has been little help for the batters, he has looked very ordinary.
Shami also looked off-colour in the T20 World Cup. The senior pacer was in everyone’s wish list after he performed exceedingly well in the Indian Premier League. However, it looks like Shami gave his best during the franchise-based tournament and did not manage to stand up in the all-important Semis against England. He could also be shown the exit door after India’s miserable performance in ICC knockout games yet again.
