Both the youngsters are talented and will be eyeing to secure their spot in the Indian squad. Ruturaj Gaikwad had an extended poor form post-IPL 2022. While Gaikwad searches for his form, it has been smooth sailing for Gill. Shubman had to wait for a long time before he was selected in the ODI squad.
Gill played his first ODI of the calendar year at the end of July. Gill opened for India and managed to score a stunning 205 runs in 3 innings. With 2 fifties and an unbeaten highest score of 98, Gill edges Gaikwad in the 50-over format with his better form.

Ruturaj Gaikwad on the other hand is yet to get his ODI debut cap for the Men in Blue. Gaikwad has also struggled in T20Is throughout the year and has only a single fifty in the 2022 calendar year. Ruturaj will get an opportunity to perform in the upcoming series which could potentially decide his future.

- Shubman Gill has been in terrific form in the ODIs. Gill played 3 ODI matches recently against West Indies. While Ruturaj Gaikwad last played a T20I game against South Africa back in June.
- Gill managed to score 205 runs in 3 ODI matches against West Indies. Ruturaj is yet to get his ODI cap for India.
- Gill currently has the upper hand over Ruturaj. Ruturaj has been in poor form off late. He managed just a single Fifty in T20I in the last 6 games.
