The Zimbabwe series will be an important series for Ishan Kishan after being dropped from Asia Cup squad. The young batter was in good form in T20s and is currently the second-highest ranked T20 player in the country. However, his trouble against short balls and tough competition in the top order saw him fall out of favours.
“I feel that what selectors do is fair. They put a lot of thought while selecting players as to who should be given the opportunity and where. It is a positive for me because if I am not selected, I will work harder and score more runs. When selectors will have confidence in me, they will obviously keep me in the team,” Ishan Kishan told ANI at an event in Patna last week.
However, it will still be difficult for him to get game time in Zimbabwe. With KL Rahul back, he is all set to open with Shikhar Dhawan. That will force Shubman Gill to middle-order. Ishan will have to compete for a place with Sanju Samson in the Playing XI.
