Jadeja heaps praise on Dhawan
After an inspired performance from the Indian team, Ajay Jadeja picked the spoils and said, “You’ve got to catch up. Sometimes as a senior player you tend to take it easy, you’ve been around for so long… You stagnate at a certain place.
“But when that next generation comes, it starts pushing you. The first time was when Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly came in and the next change was when Yuvraj, Sehwag and Dhoni came in. And you can see the same with Shikhar,” Jadeja added.
While Ajdeja later compared Dhawan’s maturity to Sachin’s approach and said, “A good example is going back to Sachin Tendulkar. Think of him when Yuvraj Singh, MS Dhoni and all these guys came in. He did exactly the same thing in his career.
“He had to reinvent himself, changed the pace at which he was playing the game to keep up with the younger lot,” Jadeja concluded.
Dhawan attends milestone in 1st ODI
Shikhar Dhawan smashed yet another record in ODIs on Thursday when he crossed 6500 runs in this format of the game. In this process, he became only the 10th Indian batter to achieve this huge feat. Set to chase 190 in the first ODI against Zimbabwe, Dhawan reached this milestone early on India’s chase. Dhawan continued his batting as he went on to score his 38th ODI fifty.

Dhawan and Co star for India in 1st ODI
In a complete demolition job, India thrashed Zimbabwe by 10 wickets to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series. Set a small target of 190, Shikhar Dhawan and Shubman Gill slammed an unbeaten 190-run stand to chase that down in 31 overs. Before that, Deepak Chahar and Axar Patel starred with three wickets each.
India began chasing an easy target of 190 rather slowly. The first surprise was Shubman Gill opening with Shikhar Dhawan instead of KL Rahul, who will soon be departing for Dubai for the Asia Cup. But Shubman Gill once again ensured, no new ball practice for KL Rahul. Despite a slow start, scoring at under 4 runs an over in the powerplay, both Gill and Dhawan took charge.
