Samson did well as an opener in IPL. With a 135.02 strike rate in 23 matches, he has more experience in opening than Suryakumar Yadav. But Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma consider him as a top-order batter than an opener. With the five-match series ending in just seven days, Sanju Samson will get a go in the series.

- It is unlikely that Samson will get a chance in the 2nd T20.
- He is competing with Deepak Hooda and Shreyas Iyer for that spot.

- Team India will be reluctant to go with three wicketkeepers in the Playing XI as it will limit India’s ability to bowl.

- However, it in ODIs, where he is going get his chances as India’s current focus remains on T20s.
