Obed McCoy has witnessed the highs and lows of cricket in the series against India after the left-arm pacer was torn apart in the 4th T20I in Florida on Saturday.
In the powerplay, Rohit Sharma and Suryalumar Yadav took a liking to the left-arm quick, smashing 25 in his first over. The Indian captain began the carnage with a stunning six before Surya followed it up with a six and a four. On strike for the final ball, Rohit sent another one into the stands to complete the carnage.
In his next over, Pant scored a solitary boundary but and Hooda ran well between the wickets to pick up 11 runs. In the over that followed, McCoy struck and dismissed and got Pant off the final delivery, but not before he had hit another boundary. Samson also joined and smashed a six to take McCoy’s tally to 50 at the end of three overs.
In his final over, while McCoy got Royals teammate Sanju Samson, Axar Patel smoked him for two maximums to collect 16 off his final over. That took his figures to 2/66 from his four, the most expensive by a West Indian in T20Is.
The effort comes in less than a week after McCoy was the driving force behind West Indies’ series-equalling win in Basseterre. The left-arm quick picked 6/17, the best figures by a West Indian in T20Is to set their win.
